A New Dawn For Oregon
Congressional Candidate to represent Oregon District 2
Dawn wasn’t born in Oregon — she chose it. After growing up in working-class communities across the South and Midwest, she came to Oregon in 1985 to attend Pacific University in Forest Grove and never looked back. What she found here — a spirit of independence, hard work, and neighbors who show up for each other — felt like home.
At Pacific, she earned a B.A. in Communications with a minor in Psychology, helped restart the university’s long-defunct speech and debate team, and served on student council — early signs of her lifelong belief in bringing people together around shared ideas.
Dawn began her career in media at Portland’s ABC affiliate, KATU, where she worked on an Emmy Award–winning educational program. She later turned her passion for Oregon into a career in travel and tourism, serving with Travel Portland, the Washington County Visitors Association, Columbia Crossroads Tours, and the Oregon Restaurant Education Foundation. Her leadership earned her the Governor’s Volunteer Tourism Achievement Award and federal recognition for her work promoting Oregon communities and small businesses.
For the past 18 years, Dawn has run her own résumé-writing business, helping people from every background and career level find opportunity and stability through meaningful work. Listening to thousands of Oregonians tell their stories gave her a deep understanding of how jobs, education, and healthcare connect — and how policy decisions in Washington affect real lives back home.
Dawn and her husband, Brad, live in The Dalles on a five-acre property with their two cats. They love hiking, backpacking, and tackling home projects that mix her creativity with his engineering mind — and reflect their shared belief in rolling up their sleeves to get things done.
What drew her to The Dalles — and to Oregon’s 2nd Congressional District — are the same values she grew up with: hard work, honesty, and community. It’s a place where people help each other through wildfires, storms, and hard times — and where Dawn believes every voice deserves to be heard in Washington.
